Camping... Halloween style

I've said it a thousand times already...
Things happen for a reason and although I get a little bored without a job,
I am extremely thankful for the time that I have had with my beautiful family this year.
It has been an amazing summer and fall!!

It was BUSY family filled weekend.
Friday evening we hung out at school and watched Sally's band " Lawn chair Crisis" do an awesome performance of  the Imagine Dragons song, Radioactive.
They nailed it!

The rest of the gorgeous fall weekend was spent tent camping in the colorful Maryland mountains.
There was no "glamping"..   unless you include the air mattresses that we stuffed in our little tent.
It was just us...  and nature.

Bundled up Michelle easily found comfort in the outdoors.

And this guy...
I love those eyes and that smile..  they get me every time!
When I took this photo I joked that he looked like a poster child for his favorite store,
Outdoor World.
Totally!!
Would you believe that he has never hunted a day in his life..   nor does he want to.

Our girls were happy doing what they love to do.
Laughing, exploring, reading and making music.

Watching and listening to them makes my heart sing.
23 & almost 16...  and they still like to hang out with their parents..
(sometimes)
Paul and I feel so blessed.

Of course...  the lame-o parents are in the rocking chairs
~ we swore we would rock together when we got old...
Are we at that point already!  : )

As the sun went down,  things began to get creepy.

The winds howled and leaves rustled.
Something clearly was moving around in the woods.

That's when we found the warning signs that were posted around the camp!!!

Ooooh No!!

We ran back to our site,  turned up the Halloween music and carved magical pumpkins to ward off danger.

Surely these fun Jack'o lanterns will keep us safe!

We slept snuggled in the tent..
The windy cold night turned into a beautiful sunny morning.

The pumpkins perched on Paul's truck kept us safe and sound all night long.

The first thing on the morning agenda..
Coffee!!

And a hot breakfast cooked over the campfire.

Of course,
Some things never change...

Soon it was time to pack up camp and start exploring the mountain side.

Our first stop was to the playground.
Our girls have played on this playground since they were tiny little people.

And it never grows old!

This love... it never grows old either.

God, I love this family!!

We left the park and took a beautiful scenic drive through the mountains as we headed to the Apple orchard.
The view of the foliage was breathtaking.
I don't recall ever seeing such Autumn beauty at it's peak!

After picking a bushel of sweet apples
It was time to say Goodbye.

But first..   lets do one last dance under a shower of falling leaves!

What would make this trip even more perfect...
Stopping for Ice Cream on the way home!!

I hope that you all enjoyed a look back at our weekend.
It was wonderful!  : )

Have a great new week friends!!!!
xo

Oh how much fun that must have been!
Looks like it's true the family that plays together stays together.
carving pumpkins was fun too... loved to see them and those gorgeous leaves!

Leslie, this looks like so much fun! It's so nice that your family spends so much time together. And did I spy scrapple in your breakfast plate? It's so hard to come by in the south. It was such a favorite when I lived up north.

My sisters "grown" kids also still like to spend time with their old folks.
those are memories they will treasure and hopefully pass down and recreate with their kids.

Around here the campers do gore up the camping area and the trails all October.

Great memories for you and the girls!
I'm not too sure about the note found at the camp, I think that would have had me running for the hills!

Looks like you guys had a great time. I've never been to Cunningham Falls, but think I will visit after seeing your beautiful pics. How lucky you are to have grown children who still like to hangout with you :-)
