White, Red and Blueberry Bars

Hi Everyone

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend
and that today got your week off to a great start.
I'll be in to check on you all soon!

I gotta show you all my newest creation
~ I'm pretty proud of this one  ~

OK,  remember the living room when we first painted and got the new sofa and carpet..

Here it is..  pretty naked

Since then I made some subtle changes
like adding pretty pillows to the sofa,
changing the end tables,
and I brought in a chest to use for a coffee table.

But the windowed wall in the back has always bothered me
The sheers and the chair are tooooo white!

I've been looking for a slipcover for the chair and can't find anything that I like..
And then
Saturday I went to Jo-annes Fabrics and found this red upholstery fabric 50% off
I bought all 5 yards that was left on the spool.

Miss Teen Spoonful has a sewing machine
but she was away Saturday night
and I wanted instant gratification..

..and did it the old fashioned way
with a needle and some thread.

Oh.. and I had a helper!

after cutting, sewing and tucking
this is what I ended up with..

As I was on my way back to Jo-anne's to buy some coordinating fabric
to sew (a skirt pleat) on to the bottom
I got a brilliant wonderful idea
to use a dust ruffle!!!!

and that is what I did!!

Talk about sore fingertips
OUCH!!!

It took me about 2 hours from start to finish
and
the stitching is far from perfect
and
I absolutley love it !

Are you ready to see how the new chair fits in with the rest the room??

Here is that old (precarpet) corner again

and here it is today
with the beautiful new Billy Jacobs art work
and the red slip cover

Perfect!!!

While relaxing in my "new" chair
I got a chance to browse some old cookbooks and magazines
and found some yummy summertime recipes.
 And before I knew it,
It was playtime in the kitchen...

I made a double batch of Blueberry Bars
( Yes Michael's girls.. since some of us have to be at work at 5am tomorrow
I made us some for breakfast)

I couldn't keep my fingers out of the crust  batter
It is truly delicious!!!!

Just look at these pictures ~

Thankfully
I was smart enough to walk the treadmill for the 30 minutes that it was cooling!!!

Because this dish is amazing!!

To make:

Blueberry Bars

2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup of sugar, divided
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 tablespoon cornstarch
3 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice

Be prepared to eat the whole pan!!!!

Have a great Tuesday!!!!

I love what you did with the chair--the whole room looks great. Those bars look insanely good...why must you do this? I still have those cookies with the trail mix stuck in my head from a few posts ago!

What a busy little girl you are! I'm emailing my daughter in Colorado right after this to have her look at your chair. She has a old chair that she got for free and was just asking me how she could cover it! What a great idea you had it looks great and I love the red!

Ooh sweet inspiration!! I have a little chair that my agrandad bought for me when I was little. It needs a lot of TLC but meantime a little loose cover would do. I may need to ask you for some tips! Your room looks so inviting and beautiful x

Mmm breakfast, but there is no way I could be at work for 5am!!! I would be asleep by 9! Lol xx

What a cozy place! My favorite pieces are birdcage and I really love that table runner (rouned one). Everything is pulled together so nicely.

Thanks for the recipe!

The new fabric on your chair really added a punch to that end of the room. Now for the curtains? Or are you happy with them now? Not judging... just curious.
